Abiotic factor- any nonliving factor in an organism's environment, such as soil, water temperature, and available light.

Acid- substance that releases hyrdogen ions (H+) when dissolved in water; an acidic solution has a pH less than 7.

Acoelomate- animal with a solid body that lacks a fluid-filled body cavity between the gut and the body wall.

Actin- protein filament in muscle cells that functions with myosin in contraction.
